Care Opportunities

​After-school clubs/activities from outside vendors/companies/individuals are not directly sponsored or endorsed by Sherwood ES PTA, or Montgomery County Public Schools.  

SES 2025-26 AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITY SCHEDULE

  • Activities begin on different weeks so be sure to review your registration in advance.

  • If programs enroll less than the minimum number of students, they may be postponed or canceled. All vendors/programs reserve the right to cap enrollment due to staffing needs.

  • After school providers are responsible for students during the time of the scheduled activities and are required to manage arrival and dismissal.

Monday

A1 Soccer - Fun games, skills training, and a great environment to learn soccer.

Critter Club - Learn and experience the incredible ways animals have evolved and adapted to the challenges of mother nature! From the cane toad’s unexpected defenses to the chameleon’s excellent camouflage, you will get to see and handle some of the craziest animal traits. Featuring completely new animals from the previous session, each week will also incorporate a new game built to explore a certain animal adaptation and how it can be useful.

Spanish Cultural Lessons - This spring in our Spanish after-school club, students will honor Mother Earth through stories, songs, and engaging hands-on activities that celebrate nature. Students will have an opportunity to be inspired and create to connect with nature while learning Spanish in a meaningful and joyful way.

Tuesday

iCook: Superhero Superfoods - CANCELED due to low enrollment

 

Girls on the Run - Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity-based positive youth development program. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program aims to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Completing a 5K on May 17th gives them a tangible opportunity to apply everything they have learned. Each participant receives a program t-shirt, water bottle, entry to the GOTR 5K, and a finisher medal.

-Grades 3-5 (girls only)

-Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:15pm. The team will meet twice per week for ten weeks, starting the week of March 8th and ending on May 22nd.

Volleyball - We’re excited to offer a new after-school Volleyball program in partnership with Volleyball Academy. The program focuses on fun, movement, and introducing volleyball in an age-appropriate way. No experience needed!

Wednesday

Shining Kids Yoga - Stretch, breathe, and relax with yoga at Sherwood Elementary! Children will learn yoga poses, deep breathing, meditation, and relaxation techniques in a fun, interactive environment. 

 

1Up Handles Basketball - No experience necessary! Come learn the basics of basketball with an emphasis on ‘Keeping Kids Active’ through physical activity, sound discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in sports.

Learn Now Music - Our goal is to create a positive atmosphere where each student can reach their personal musical goals at their own pace. Students can learn either violin, guitar, piano, ukulele, or drums - instrument rental is included in the registration fee! Please note, this is NOT the 4th/5th grade Instrumental Music program offered through MCPS; this is an independent program

Silver Knights Chess Academy - Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.
